Hello, world.

Welcome to 'Mimi on the Breach' -- the clever or the music lovers or the 30-somethings or the Canadians among you will recognize the reference to the Jane Siberry song. Sorry if you're humming now ;-) The breach in question is that space between all the things I think about and want to write about: life on the mommy track, life on the tenure track, life on the internet, life in an old house and a new marriage, and, of course, my cat. I've been reading such great blogs and itching so much to comment that I thought I'd just jump in and join the community of mommy bloggers, academic bloggers, online diarists, and, well, cat bloggers.
